I’m off to the pool!

Helloes everyone!

For those of you who haven’t heard from us since we left our cold and rainy homecountry here’s an update!

First of all, YES, we are doing fine… or not just fine but excellent I would say! The weather and the surroundings here are truly amazing and we are all trying to adapt to all the new things… the english talk is getting along but we sure need to get working on that thing called “floooow”.

The media section should be updated any time now with some pictures from the flights and our first days in the country so don’t forget to check it out!

Talking of the flights, Malaysian made a very good impression on us all with great service as free drinks and stuff. We also managed to skip much of the time using their mediabased system which allowed us to play old good classic games like Battleship (Sänka skepp) and Pong :) They also hade a nice collection of movies and tv-series that you could watch whenever you felt like.

Pong!

The New York visit was a bit short but we managed to see times square, central park and some other neat stuff before leaving. Of course we also timed our visit perfectly along with the local PRIDE-parade on 5th street hahaha!

Central Park PimpimCentral Park

Something I have to mention aswell was the totally failed check in on our jetblue flight to San Diego. All four of us ended up repacking our trunks in front of the check in box and approx. 100 other passengers. The repacking went kind of smooth however so after 15 mins of embarressment we were all set for our flight. The flight gave us some nice views during our departure, after 40 mins (of taxying and waiting) and 35 aircrafts taking of before us, and also some really neat views of a night-time san diego from above upon arrival.

We haven’t really seen that much of the US and all it’s weird and funny things but we have put a list together on our experiences so far

1. Indian people talk very funny!

2. The Americans seems to believe that you can fry anything…

3. Turning right even if you have a red light is apparently ok!

4. America is all about papers papers and more papers

5. Sunglasses is a must!

6. Bank system is 30 years behind Europe… checks for everything?

7. All cars are automatic

8. God bless Bud Light! (Available at the local 7-Eleven across the street of course)

9. Don’t buy a car from a sleezy looking mexican at 1030PM in a mexican area…

10. Indian people talk very funny!

And so on and so on…

So we have now spent a few days here in the US and a some of that time here in San Diego, or El Cajon wich this part of the town is actually called. We are currently in the market for a new place to stay but we actually managed to get hold of a really nice car today. We had to empty 1.5 ATM (”Cash withdrawal machine”) on cash before we could get hold of the money we needed for the car though haha! :)

Anyways we are now proud owners of the pink slip to a 1996 Ford Taurus, automatic of course………

Ford Taurus

Im gonna end this blog now since it is already way to long. Im truly impressed if anyone managed to keep their eyes open through all this text? :)

Come back soon for a new update!

We haven’t really been so active on the blogging part for a while now but believe me we have had other things to put our energy on!

Berra wrote a contribution with the MCC-blog a week ago so I won’t mention that so much more than state that he and Jesper was very lucky beeing able to get some time in two other simulators than the F28 which we actually flew :)

Me and Gustav was however the first of us to complete the MCC so I guess I can bully the others on that part haha!

Anyhow the clock is now almost 2000 and it’s midsummers eve here in sweden. Haha I bet 90% of the swedish citizens are beginning to feel slightly intoxicated by the lovely swedish beer and schnaps by now! I haven’t really managed to get that far on that part myself but I guess that is kind of good since this text would probably be a bit harder to read in that case ;)

We have approximate 21 hours to go before lift off from Arlanda airport and I think we are all having a slight sensation of confusion and anxiety about the trip. All papers are in order though and at least my bags are fully packed. Now I just pray to god that the zipper will manage to stay alive during the following 3 days :)

I guess this is it for now and I really look forward to posting the first real blogpost on the other side of the big ocean within a few days. Please use the guestbook or email if you want to reach us since we wont bring our swedish cellphones to San Diego (or? :) )

Stay cool and have a happy wet summer here in sweden? ;)

Over and out!

A330 SimulatorToday Jesper and I (Berra) flew our last simulator session in the Fokker 28 at SAS Flight Academy. We have been having five sessions, one each every day, flying for 4 hrs per session so it has been very intense actually. Starting at 0600 at Arlanda every morning makes us to get up 0400 and then go by car from Västerås. We have had a lot of problems outside the flying also. First of all, Jespers car broke down the first day so we had to borrow Gustavs car. It showed For landing, A330 Simulatorthat Jespers control-databox in his car had short-circuited because of some water drops :(
So we rented a Nissan Micra at OKQ8 for 229SEK á day. Actually a pretty nice car with AC, nice stereo, full of airbags etc…
On Wednesday the simulator broke down in the morning…..that’s too bad but we then got the opportunity to test some other simulators. First we had 20min each in the Airbus A330, a really nice simulator, 99,9% super realistic with full motion capacity. You could even simulate real smoke in the cockpit. Then we had 1h together in the Boeing 767. That was also cool, but flying the Airbus was the best. Flying with the joystick is 767 Simulatorreally impressive.
It is know exactly a week to our flight to New York and the States.
More info to come…

Best Regards
Berra

Short intro…

We are four enthusiastic Swedish guys who recently completed our flight training at the Scandinavian Aviation Academy in Västerås, Sweden. Our intention for the following two years is to work as flight instructors at the American department of the academy! This means we are leaving for San Diego, California, and we intend to do so on the 23d of June.

We only have around 3 weeks left here in Sweden at the moment and the time is passing by so much faster than we are experiencing it…

Anyway, this blog is supposed to keep our surrounding people updated on our progress towards our american flight certificates and flight instructor ratings but also act as a direct link into our future american lives :)

So what are we aiming for? Well… An American Dream I guess!!

P.S. We will try to keep this english blog as updated as we possibly can but if you understand swedish I suggest you visit the swedish blogg!

post MCC Arlanda

MCC står för just Multi Crew Co-operation.
